ENROLLMENT BEGINS OCTOBER 1 • PROGRAM STARTS JANUARY 2027
Peak Assist Program
Save energy. Support your community.
Join the PUD’s Peak Assist Program to help reduce energy use during periods of high demand. Participation is easy, voluntary, and brief events are called no more than twice per month. You decide whether to participate each time.
Joining has rewards
After you enroll, you’ll have multiple opportunities to win a bill credit by completing each post-event survey:
- $25 enrollment bill credit: Receive a one-time $25 bill credit when you join the program and complete your first post-event survey. The first event will not be called until after the program starts on Jan. 1, 2027.
- Monthly bill credit drawings: Complete post-event surveys for a chance to win a $50 bill credit. Eight winners are selected each month. A participant may only win one monthly bill credit per program year.
- End-of-year bill credit drawings: Participants who stay enrolled and complete event surveys will be entered in end-of-year drawings for a $200 bill credit. Twenty-five winners will be selected.

Peak Assist FAQs
When will the program start?
Peak Assist enrollment begins October 1, 2026, with the program launching January 1, 2027. The time between enrollment and launch allows us to enroll participants, prepare our systems, and get everything in place for a smooth start. Participants will receive a message at the beginning of the year letting them know the program has officially begun.
How does this program help our community?
Each month, just a few hours of focused conservation can have the biggest impact for equipment reliability and cost of service. By combining efforts around peak assist events, small actions can lead to lower costs for our electric infrastructure and keep our rates low.
How do I join?
It’s simple! Just sign up via the Peak Assist tile in your free MySnoPUD account.

How do I get my initial $25 bill credit for enrolling in the Peak Assist program?
It’s simple! Just sign up via the Peak Assist tile on MySnoPUD. Look for this icon on the dashboard:
- Follow the prompts to sign up. Be sure to specify how you would like to receive event notices.
- Watch for the first event. You need not participate in order to receive the $25 bill credit, but you’ll need to complete and submit the post-event survey received via your notification method of choice.
- When the credit is applied, it will be reflected on your bill.
How do the monthly and annual drawings work?
Customers can earn entries into the monthly and annual drawings by submitting a survey following each event. Winners will be notified via the email address used to enroll in Peak Assist. Complete details and drawing dates are available in the rules.
Do I have to reduce energy use to enter a bill credit drawing?
No. While we encourage event participation to help us conserve energy during times of peak demand on the grid, we understand circumstances do not always allow customers to reduce energy consumption. If you are not able to participate during an event, we still encourage you to complete a post-event survey, which will provide us valuable information for the program. Post-event surveys are key to receiving your initial enrollment bill credit and earning entries into bill credit drawings.
What are some ways I can save energy during an event?
You’ll receive advance notice before all events – here are suggested steps you can take before and during the event to significantly reduce your energy use.
Shift Heavy Chores and Cooking
- Do laundry before or after the event: Wash and dry clothes or run the dishwasher before the conservation window begins or after.
- Change cooking plans: Prepare meals ahead of time or use a microwave or toaster oven instead of a large electric stove or oven.
- Avoid hot water tasks: Wash dishes and take showers before or after the targeted time frame to reduce hot water tank cycling.
Pre-position Climate and Devices
- Pre-cool or pre-heat: Adjust your thermostat a few degrees cooler (in summer) or warmer (in winter) before the energy event starts so your HVAC system can coast during the critical window.
- Charge everything: Fully charge your phones, laptops, and backup power banks ahead of time.
- Delay vehicle charging: Postpone charging your electric vehicle until late at night or after the high-demand period passes.
Manage your Environment
- Close window coverings: Shut your blinds and curtains tightly to block out sunlight and keep inside temperatures stable.
- Unplug standby power: Turn off power strips and unplug small electronics or chargers that draw passive power.
- Turn off extra lights: Keep only the lights you strictly need switched on.
How was this program developed?
From 2021 to 2024, the PUD and participating customers worked together to test three energy-saving partnership programs. Customer involvement in the Flex Energy programs helped the PUD evaluate program effectiveness, understand practical considerations, and measure results. Learn more about these programs here.
