Information you should know

Power outage > If power is out in your home, but your neighbors have power, use our Outage Map to report the outage or call the PUD at 425-783-1001.

Beware of scams > The PUD will never call to ask for credit card information. We will not ask customers to buy a credit/debit card for payment, including Green Dot Money Packs or Western Union. If you are unsure if it’s the PUD calling you, ask for the caller’s name and call us back at 425-783-1000.

PUD customers should beware of:

  • Callers who threaten to disconnect power in a few hours or minutes
  • Callers who are aggressive with the customer
  • Callers who say they are with a company other than Snohomish PUD, such as the “electric company”
  • Callers who use accurate PUD customer account information to sound convincing, such as the exact amounts of a customer’s last two payments. Specific information about a business is also used to sound convincing.
  • Callers who contact a business during busy times when an employee or manager is distracted.

Online bill payment > Customers can make payments with no additional charges via the PUD’s website (click here) or by calling our automated payment toll-free line at 1-888-909-4628.

Hot water heaters > State law advises your water heater should be set no higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature reduces the risk of accidental scalding, especially to children and the elderly. It also saves energy.

Medical conditions > If you have a medical condition that requires uninterrupted electric service, please remember that fall and winter storms bring a higher chance of power outages. You should consider acquiring a source of standby power and/or make backup plans with friends, family or a local agency to get to a place where electricity is available.

Bill assistance > The PUD offers income-qualified assistance discounts of 25% or 50% to qualifying customers. An application is required. Customers can call PUD Customer Service for more information.

Save energy, save money > The PUD offers many programs to help customers save electricity and lower energy bills. These include incentives for energy-efficient improvements in electrically heated homes, rebates for purchases of appliances that save energy and water, and discounts on energy-saving devices.

PUD personnel and identification

If a person comes to your door claiming to be a PUD employee, don’t let them inside without first asking for identification. Our employees carry an ID card with their picture on it and will gladly show it to you.

If you receive a phone call and aren’t sure if it actually came from us, call our Customer Service Department to verify the information you were given. We will be able to tell you whether or not the call was a hoax.
