Helping you reach your environmental sustainability goals

Green and blue, natural colors hands shaking with green and blue leaf flowing above.

At Snohomish County PUD, we’re committed to supporting the people and communities we serve as they work toward a more sustainable future.

If you have an idea, project, or question about environmental sustainability, we’re here to help connect you with the right resources – or evaluate new ideas that could benefit our customers and communities.

How we can help

Our Customer Environmental Sustainability Goals program helps customers explore and advance environmental stewardship ideas related to electricity, water, and PUD services.

We review customer requests to:

  • Connect you with existing PUD programs, or
  • Consider new sustainability ideas that aren’t currently offered but may align with our mission and legal authority.

Our goal is to be transparent, responsive, and thoughtful—while working within the laws and resources that guide a public utility.

What requests can we review?

We can review requests related to environmental sustainability and stewardship, including topics like:

  • Energy efficiency or conservation
  • Water efficiency or conservation
  • Transportation electrification
  • Renewable or clean energy resources
  • Habitat restoration or environmental stewardship linked to PUD facilities or services

Examples of how we can help

  • Home energy efficiency programs or audits
  • Tree‑planting programs that reduce energy use
  • Clean energy or electrification goals
  • Habitat restoration connected to PUD projects
  • Ideas for new sustainability programs that benefit customers broadly

When we can't help

Some requests may fall outside our legal authority, such as projects outside Snohomish PUD’s service territory, requests unrelated to electricity, water, or PUD services or certifications/third‑party services we aren’t legally allowed to provide. If we’re unable to fulfill a request, we’ll always explain why.

How to submit a request

Click here to fill out our Sustainability Request Form

You’ll be asked to describe your idea, where it would occur, and what kind of support you’re seeking. You’ll receive a confirmation email when your request is received. For more about the process, please see the FAQs below.

How requests are reviewed

Requests that aren’t already covered by existing programs are reviewed by a cross‑departmental team of experts, including staff from:

  • Environmental and natural resources
  • Energy and water services
  • Legal, finance, and customer programs

This team evaluates requests for:

  • Legal compliance
  • Environmental impact
  • Alignment with PUD goals
  • Cost and resource considerations
  • Community benefit and equity

Final decisions are made by the PUD’s Environmental Stewardship Committee.

Transparency & follow‑up

  • All requests are tracked and reviewed for trends over time.
  • Approved ideas may move forward immediately or be considered for future planning and budgeting.
  • If a request type later becomes part of a new PUD program, we may notify prior requestors.

Please note: decisions are final, and there is no appeals process.
