Move for a Cause at PUD’s Inaugural Community Energy Run on Oct. 3

5k event benefits Community Energy Fund and celebrates Water Utility’s 80th anniversary

Snohomish County PUD is inviting community members of all ages and abilities to lace up their shoes and join the inaugural Community Energy Run on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the PUD’s Water Operations Center in Lake Stevens. The 5k run and walk will raise funds for the Community Energy Fund, which is administered by St. Vincent DePaul and helps local families struggling to pay their utility bills.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and features a scenic route along the Centennial Trail. Participants can run, walk, or cheer on friends and family while supporting neighbors in need. Participants can register until 8:30 a.m. on race morning at snopud.com/run.

 “This event is about more than crossing a finish line,” said Snohomish PUD’s CEO/General Manager John Haarlow. “It’s an opportunity for our customers, employees and community members to come together and make a meaningful difference for neighbors facing financial challenges while celebrating the strong community spirit that defines Snohomish County.”

All funds raised from the event will go to the PUD’s Community Energy Fund that provides utility bill assistance to income-qualified households throughout Snohomish County. The fund helps ensure that families facing unexpected hardships can maintain essential electric service.

The Community Energy Run also coincides with a milestone year for the PUD’s Water Utility, which is celebrating 80 years of serving the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the Water Utility’s role in delivering safe, reliable drinking water and explore water-related demonstrations following the race.

Whether participants are seasoned runners, casual walkers or families looking for a fun way to give back, the event is designed to welcome everyone.
