Snohomish PUD Earns Smart Energy Provider Designation

The PUD is proud to announce that it was recently named a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) by the American Public Power Association. The PUD is one of just 70 public power utilities in the nation to earn the designation.

SEP designees are recognized for demonstrating commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation and environmental initiatives that support a goal of providing low-cost, quality, safe, and reliable electric service.

This year, the PUD improved its score by six points, recording a total of 90 points out of a possible 100. On its SEP application, the PUD earned high marks for offering demand-side energy-efficiency programs, promoting environmentally beneficial electrification, establishing conservation goals, and more. The PUD also earned the award in 2019.

The SEP designation, which lasts for two years (Dec. 1, 2021 to Nov. 30, 2023) recognizes public power utilities for demonstrating leading practices in four key disciplines: smart energy program structure; energy efficiency and distributed energy programs; environmental and sustainability initiatives; and the customer experience. This is the third year APPA has offered the SEP designation.
