PUD Celebrates Major Infrastructure Upgrades
< All Stories
Snohomish County PUD has recently completed a series of reliability improvement projects including the North Camano Substation project, a new 115kV Stanwood to Camano transmission line, and the new Twin City Substation in Stanwood.
“These projects represent years of planning, dedication, and collaboration,” said PUD Commissioner Sid Logan. “Together, we have rebuilt the North Camano Substation and built the new Twin City Substation in Stanwood, which strengthened the backbone of our local power distribution. We have also constructed the Stanwood to Camano 115kV Transmission Line, which created critical redundancy for Camano Island. In doing so, we replaced more than 100 aging utility poles and over six miles of wire, greatly enhancing the reliability of our electrical system.”
The infrastructure investments were completed over a series of years with most of the work being completed by PUD crews.
“What makes this accomplishment especially meaningful is our decision to take the work in-house. Rather than outsourcing, we relied on the remarkable expertise and creativity of Team PUD,” said Haarlow. “This approach resulted in substantial savings for our customers and allowed us to harness the full potential of our talented staff.”
