Get to Know a Meter Installer

Meet Colton Lindstrand, AMI Meter Deployment Tech

Hometown:
Marysville

How long have you been at the District?
2 months.

Why did you want to come work at the PUD?
The PUD actually came to my elementary school and gave a talk. I’d say that was my origin point of interest in the PUD. I’ve heard a lot of great things about how good the company is, how well they support their employees and how awesome the general experience is. I’ve always had positive experiences with the PUD. It felt like a respectful company to work for where I’d be doing real things for people that made a difference.

Have you had a unique experience that’s memorable?
I think the most memorable experience was when I recently ran across an older deaf couple when I was exchanging their meter. I know some ASL (American Sign Language) from college, so I was able to talk with them and really connect with them, and joke around a little. It seemed like it really amplified their experience. They went from being very skeptical about the whole process to being very excited about it. They thought it was cool. This is somewhere where I get to see all different kinds of people from all walks of life and getting to interact with them. That was the most special one of those, I’d say.

We have a group chat where we send our favorite dogs of the day.

What would you like to make sure customers know?
I wish a lot of customers knew how beneficial the new meters are and how many benefits they have. The safety aspects, the accuracy, how much more effective it is, how much we save on carbon emissions, just the general impact it can have. Such a small technology that might seem insignificant, but that it can help so much.

What’s it like being on the deployment team?
The team is very tight-knit. Everyone gets along really well. We have a group chat where we send our favorite dogs of the day. Everyone’s very supportive and helpful. If you have any problems on the job and you need someone to help you, someone will be there in 5 minutes. You just message the chat and someone is always ready to help you. No matter what.
