Learn about the PUD’s Integrated Resource Plan at open house

Snohomish County PUD will host an open house for customers to learn more about its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and the 2023 update to this long-term strategy document. The open house will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at its headquarters in downtown Everett (2320 California St., Everett, WA).

The event is free and will include a short presentation and opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to PUD IRP planners.

The IRP weighs the changing environment, customer needs, regulatory compliance and resource availability to ensure the PUD can meet all of its customers’ power needs over a 10-year horizon. The PUD’s Board of Commissioners adopted the 2021 IRP a little over a year ago.

The 2023 updated IRP will take into account an expanded load forecast that predicts a dramatically higher power demand than originally projected due to several factors, including faster-than-expected electric vehicle adoption, continued growth of air conditioning, more new homes built with electric heat and population growth. It then outlines how it will meet that increased energy demand, keep rates affordable and meet clean energy mandates.
