This five kW solar array was installed atop Park Place Middle School’s rooftop in 2012. The installation enhances 8th-grade science curriculum and gives students hands-on experience with solar power. Solar energy information is shared via the Monroe School District’s website and through other existing communication channels.
Monroe has a high percentage of manufacturing and agricultural jobs. This array facilitates learning about how renewable energy integrates into these industries. Park Place Middle School is located on Main Street, a large-volume arterial, making this a highly visible solar array.
This project was funded as part of Snohomish County PUD's Planet Power program, and installed by NW Wind & Solar.
