For more than 40 years, the Camano Center has been an active part of the Camano Island/Stanwood community offering meeting space, clubs, classes, support groups, an adult day-program, and warm meals served three times each week including delivery through “Meals on Wheels.”
The Camano Center has been working closely with Fire Mountain Solar to prepare long-range plans for energy efficiency, sustainability and potential back-up power for emergency situations on the Island.
The solar installation funded by PUD’s Planet Power program will help them toward these goals. The 9.6 kW system, made up of 35 Solar World panels, will produce about 10,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually. The system includes data monitoring and a display designed for use by students from next-door Utsalady Elementary School, as well as participants in Camano Center programs.
