Small & Medium Business Rates

Businesses that consume less than 30,000 kWh per month and whose maximum electricity consumption does not exceed 100 kW. Examples include restaurants, convenience stores, and other retail spaces smaller than a grocery store.

The greater of:

  • 37 cents per day and 9.04 cents per kilowatt-hour; or
  • 54 cents per day plus 2.425 cents per kW per day for all connected load in excess of 10 kW

Examples of large businesses: grocery store, multistory offices, hotels, big box stores

Large Business Rates

Businesses that consume more than 30,000 kWh per month or whose electricity consumption exceeds 100 kW. Examples include grocery stores, hotels, and customers with energy-intensive industrial processes.

The greater of:

  • 37 cents per day, plus
    • 9.04 cents per kilowatt-hour up to 30,000 kWh; and
    • 6.98 cents per kilowatt-hour for all additional kWh; and
    • $5.12 per kW of maximum consumption in excess of 100 kW
  • 54 cents per day plus 2.425 cents per kW per day for all connected load in excess of 10 kW

Examples of largest businesses: factories and very large hospitals

Largest Business Rates

Businesses that own their own transformers and whose maximum electricity consumption exceeds 5 megawatts. Only 6 customers in Snohomish County currently qualify for this rate schedule. These customers include large, energy-intensive industries and multi-building campuses employing hundreds of people.

Existing Customers or New Customers whose annual consumption does not grow by 87,600 megawatt-hours in any 12-month period
  • 5.79 cents per kWh plus
  • $4.22 per kW of maximum consumption
New Customers who annual consumption grows by 87,600 megawatt-hours and are defined as New Large Single Loads

Unmetered Business Service Rates

For cable television amplifiers, air traffic warning lights, and other applications where metering is deemed impractical by the PUD:

  • 28 cents per day, plus
  • 8.99 cents per kilowatt-hour
