  • Giant PUD Transformer to Move Slowly through South Everett

    Crews Plan Four-Hour Overnight Transport Thursday/Friday, June 29 & 30

Snohomish County PUD this week will be moving the largest transformer in its system, which measures more than 30 feet long and 16 feet high. The utility will transport the equipment over a route of about five miles, starting from its Everett Operations Center at 11 p.m., Thursday, June 29, with expected arrival at a PUD substation at 3 a.m., Friday, June 30. The transformer is the centerpiece of the PUD’s first 230-kilovolt transmission substation in the Beverly Park neighborhood of Everett.

The PUD will be assisted by the Everett Police Department as it makes the overnight convoy to move the transformer. The route will deviate slightly from the most direct path to avoid low-hanging utility lines and more challenging roadways. The route is as follows:

    • Leave the PUD Operations Center, eastbound on 75th Street SW
    • Northeast on Sievers Duecy Road
    • Right/East on Madison Street
    • Right/South on Beverly Lane
    • Left/East on 79th Place
    • Left/North on Evergreen Way
    • Right/East on Madison Street
    • Right/South on Beverly Blvd.
    • Left on Scenic Drive to Beverly Park Substation

Some minor traffic delays are expected. To view the route of the transformer move, click here for the route map.
