The PUD offers year-round discounts on electric bills to its low-income customers who qualify. The discount level is set each year by the Commission. The program currently provides reductions of 20 percent, 40 percent, or 60 percent off PUD electric bills with the actual discount percentage depending on income level.
As of October 1, 2009, the discount is available to Snohomish County PUD customers who have a household annual income that is below 125 percent of the federal poverty level (or $27,563 for a family of four; view our income eligibility chart below). As of January 1, 2009, also eligible for discounts are senior citizen PUD customers who are 62 years of age or older and have a combined disposable annual income of less than $25,988.
IMPORTANT: Customers currently receiving a Low-Income Discount for the 2008-2009 season will not be required to reapply for the 2009-2010 season.
Customers can obtain an application at any PUD office, at most senior citizen centers, or by calling the utility's Customer Service Department. PDF versions of the applications can be found to the right.
