For Solar Contractors

Important!

Anyone installing or assisting a customer with a PV installation will need to follow PUD guidelines for interconnection and net metering. Technical assistance can be found on this page.

To become a PUD-Registered Solar Installer, contractors must:

  • Have successfully contracted/completed at least one PV installation with a Snohomish PUD customer
  • Have been in business for the past year
  • Have current insurance and licensing for all work being performed
  • Submit a Solar Installer Agreement and Application (see Contractor Documents at right)

What Is the Process to Interconnect with the PUD?

1 Get an assessment from a solar contractor to determine if your home/business is a good candidate for solar.
2 Get one or more project bids
3 Submit an Interconnection Application and a Net Metering agreement (available at right)
4 Proceed with the solar installation, following all local codes and permitting requirements.
5 After your electrical permit has been finalized, submit the Notice of Completion to the PUD.
6 The PUD will set new solar meters.
7 The PUD will execute your Net Metering agreement
8 If intending to participate in the state’s production incentive program, you will need to certify your system with WSU (click here for details) and then provide a copy of the certification letter or email to the PUD.

Solar Meter Diagrams

Meter Diagram image (click to view)A one-line diagram should include all specified electrical design information about a proposed system, including solar modules, inverters, interconnection point, disconnect switches and meters. If batteries, subpanels, and/or other generators are part of the design, these must be noted. In order to correctly meter solar production, the metering configuration should match one of the diagrams found by clicking here.
